MEV Atomic Track Car - Ultimate Thrills

For anyone familiar with open wheel kit cars, Mills Extreme Vehicles (MEV) is synonymous with those seeking an affordable clubman with perfect balance. The concept was developed to provide not only 50-50 front to rear balance but also 50-50 left to right.

According to the founder Stuart Mills, the ability to achieve ultimate balance was made possible by careful positioning of the tank the battery and radiator but most of all the engine. This was placed where we would normally expect to see a passenger. The engine was orientated with the four cylinders running east west and a drive shaft took the power to the rear mounted differential. Make no mistake about it, the Atomic is a driverโ€™s car, no room for non-paying passengers! In the words of Mills, โ€œit is the perfect track day toy at a very reasonable price point.โ€

Running a 2004 Yamaha R1 engine and tipping the scales at approximately 334 kilograms, the MEV Atomic boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 294 kw per tonne. To provide some context, that is almost the same punch as a Lamborghini Huracan!

Built in 2014, this particular example has less than 20 hours track time since being constructed and has mainly been enjoyed at Supersprints at Queensland Raceway and Lakeside. And the reason for sale? The owner has a second MEV in the garage that is even more highly-developed that requires his focus and attention.

Technical specification:

- Yamaha R1 motorcycle engine/gearbox
- Hispec calipers and discs (front) and rear Ford Focus/Fiesta discs with integrated handbrake
- Wilwood pedal box
- Sabelt harness
- Fibreglass racing seat
- Musarri Racing exhaust
- Protech adjustable coilovers and springs
- BMW independent rear end

Included with the sale is a comprehensive spares package including compete spare engine, spare fibreglass bonnet, spare wheel arches and many more assorted components for the car. Whilst MEV is no longer manufacturing, many parts are generic to the aftermarket and will therefore always be available.

A very reluctant sale by its enthusiast owner, he suggests that the MEV would be most suitable for club days, sprints, hillclimb events, motorkhana/gymkhana or would even perform well on gravel at an autocross meet. One of his greatest thrills during his ownership period? Driving at Sydney Motorsport Park and going flat out through turn one without lifting. Howโ€™s that for ultimate balance!

The MEV is available for inspection in Anstead, Brisbane and is absolutely ready for its new owner to take to the track and enjoy. Should the new owner reside in Brisbane or Sydney, delivery will be included free-of-charge as well as an extensive technical handover.
